CarolinaCAP Director

Tria collaborates with educators to implement innovative strategies to recruit, support, and retain teachers through CarolinaCAP, an alternative certification program supported through a partnership between the University of South Carolina and CTQ. She co-leads work with higher education faculty and school districts to offer a more personalized, supportive alternative certification pathway for prospective educators. Tria’s understanding of authentic partnerships’ positive impact on spurring innovation and meeting programmatic goals stems from her 18 years of experience in education, ten of which are at the district and state level on educator effectiveness initiatives. She has served on state educator advisory committees and district teacher forums to ensure teachers’ voice was a driving factor in local and state policies. Tria volunteers with Hygiene for Humanity, an organization that educates children, men, and women on the importance of good personal care and provides products to meet their basic needs.
