CarolinaCAP Director

Tria leads CarolinaCAP, an alternative certification pathway at the University of South Carolina and operated in partnership with CTQ and 18 SC districts. CarolinaCAP addresses diverse teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention in SC public school systems. Previously, she was a classroom teacher and an interventionist. She later worked in a range of roles focused on pre-collegiate services, induction and mentoring support, and other educator effectiveness initiatives at the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) and South Carolina Department of Education. Tria has also served as a board member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association, Learning Forward South Carolina, and the Winthrop University Diversity Committee. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University, and an M.Ed in Instructional Design from Western Governors University.
