July 7, 2014—The National Education Association (NEA) gathered teacher leaders from across the country in Denver for their Empowered Educators Day on July 2. The theme? Raise Your Hand for Education. Event speakers exhorted attendees to "proceed until apprehended" for teacher-led, student-centered change in schools.
At an NEA-hosted reception that evening, dozens of Teacher Leadership Initiative (TLI) participants from across the nation met their Collaboratory colleagues face-to-face for the first time. TLI—a partnership launched in early 2014 by NEA, CTQ, and National Board—is preparing hundreds of educators to lead, through a teacher-designed and -facilitated online curriculum.
