Barnett Berry speaks at National Summit on the State of Latino Education

September 29, 214—Barnett Berry took part in the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund's 10th Annual National Summit on the State of Latino Education in Washington D.C. Presenting with Stephanie Hirsh, Executive Director of Learning Forward, he shared his vision of transformative teacher leadership in a session entitled Professional Development: Models that Support Teachers to Improve Student Learning.

The NALEO Educational Fund is a national, nonpartisan organization whose constituency is made up of the nation’s Latino elected and appointed officials. The Summit was a part of the NALEO Education Leadership Initiative (NELI), which provides the nation’s Latino elected and appointed officials with technical assistance, professional development, and networking opportunities designed to increase their effectiveness as education policymakers and advocates. The 65-70 participants were comprised of school board members, community college trustees, and appointed and state legislative leaders from across the country.
