Alesha Daughtrey, Director of Research and Policy
Alesha Daughtrey’s work at the Center for Teaching Quality focuses on the intersection of research and policy related to teaching and learning conditions, professional development, and teacher and school leadership. She manages CTQ research initiatives, including teacher working conditions surveys and studies in several major urban districts nationwide. In addition, she works on policy projects that connect these research findings to CTQ’s work with teacher leaders.
Originally trained as a high school English teacher, Alesha went on to spend nearly a decade in the Washington, DC area, gaining experience in policy advocacy and analysis, project and organizational management, outreach, training, and philanthropy. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) from Duke University, where her research focused on teacher retention, teacher labor markets, mentoring and induction supports for novice teachers, education finance, and educational equity.
