The Hillsborough County (FL) New Millennium Initiative is the newest NMI site, currently recruiting twelve to fifteen young and “young-minded” accomplished teachers. These teachers will be working in an online professional learning community and coordinating with the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association and Hillsborough County Public Schools to study and share insights around teacher effectiveness and teacher evaluation. In light of Hillsborough County's involvement in the Empowering Effective Teachers Initiative (funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and the American Federation of Teachers' Innovation Fund, the Hillsborough NMI has the opportunity to work with district and union officials – all with the aim of developing and implementing best practices in policy and programming to support and grow teaching effectiveness and student learning.
