The Denver Writers’ Guild
Background
To realize the mission and goals of the Denver New Millennium Initiative (Denver NMI), we must build a larger cadre of teacherpreneurs with strong knowledge and skills in written communications. Teachers who participate in the Denver Writers’ Guild will learn how to connect their classroom practice with education policy in diverse written formats, and effectively communicate their TeacherSolutions to a variety of stakeholders. The first learning opportunity for the Denver Writers’ Guild will take place during summer 2011, as selected participants attend a two-day workshop session on June 27-28, 2011. Throughout the 2011-12 school year, Guild members will be provided with ongoing support and development, and will be compensated $2,000 for producing a series of blogs, essays, and other written products, which will serve to publicize the efforts of the Denver New Millennium team locally and nationally.
